KOOKABURRA MID BUCKS CRICKET LEAGUE. NEWSLETTER 109 October 2008
The Annual General Meeting of the League will be held on December 3rd at BroomWade Sports Club, starting at 8.00. This is the usual venue for our meetings but you may now hear it referred to as the Magnolia Sports Club. For those of you with Sat Nav it is HP14 4LA. Please remember that your Club will be fined if they do not attend this important meeting.
The AGM Agendas and proposals are enclosed with this Newsletter. Each Club will have one vote for the proposals, so please discuss these at your Club and be prepared to vote as a Club, this is not just one persons decision, these alterations, if carried, will affect every player in the League.
You will also be asked to vote for the admission of Phoenix Old Boys, who have applied to join for the 2009 season. They play at Farnham Park Sports Field, and have already made friends with some of the Clubs in the League through their friendly Sunday fixtures.
Your Management Committee have decided that incorrectly filled in Result cards should be fined points. Some Clubs are still very lazy about this whole business. Cards should be filled in before the start of the game and handed to the Umpires. It is hoped to be able to arrange a few spot checks next season!
Only a disappointing number of members turned up for the Short Umpires course. This must mean that you all have a fully qualified Umpire for next season! It may be possible to put on a scorers course, A basic course would only last a morning or an afternoon, and daytime is suggested so that youngsters can come. Please consider this for your young members who may like to score for you, and tell me at the AGM. It was pointed out in the last Newsletter that a scorer should not be several children taking it in turns to put in the odd dot, nor should the young scorer have to look after other children at the same time. 100% concentration is required to do the job properly.
There is still time for you to nominate people for the Officers ofthe League, and for members of the Management Committee.
There are still an alarming number of Clubs who have not paid their fines for scratching games, the Treasurer would have liked to get all these settled before the AGM, and before he closes the books for this season.
The first Management meeting of the season will be held immediately after the AGM, and this meeting will decide the set up of the Divisions for next season.
At the AGM each Club will be given a copy of my list of your registered players, which I expect you to update before the start of the season. Delete those no longer playing for you, and change addresses where necessary, also add your new players, giving their address. Please do not leave it, as one Club did last season, until two weeks before the end of the season. Each Club will also be given a sheet to fill in with the name, address and telephone number ofthe Club Secretary, to be sent to me as soon after your Club AGM as possible. There is also a form for you to order your cricket balls for the coming season. Your League Treasurer, while brilliant at the job, is not a mind reader, and will order the same number for your Club as you had last year, and your Club will be expected to pay for them, whether or not you want them, unless your form is returned at the AGM at the latest.
